I see mucus when I wipe my bottom. Should I be worried?


The lining of the large intestine makes a natural lubricant called mucus. It is similar to the mucus in the nose when you have a cold. The mucus helps move faeces along the large intestine. It is normal to see mucus when you wipe your bottom occasionally. Certain conditions may cause increased mucus production. If you start to see mucus more frequently, see your doctor.
