We should do more palliative care in end stage liver disease!

As doctors and specialists, we are trained to diagnose and management disease. With improvements in research, our treatment options have increased over time and outcomes have improved for many patients.

As liver diseases progresses, symptoms may develop. Some of these symptoms may be able to be controlled and managed; some may not. Goals of treatment should be revisited regularly.

Early palliative care can assist with symptom management. Palliative care does not mean giving up.
